History
In the 1930s, the Street Hotel at 18th & The Paseo served as a vital refuge for African American travelers, earning a place in The Negro Motorist Green Book. Among its notable guests was Jackie Robinson, who stayed there while in Kansas City. The hotel’s legendary nightclub, The Blue Room, was a hotspot for jazz. Today, the venue carries on that legacy—both as an exhibit and a live music space—offering an intimate setting where top local and national jazz artists take the stage.
